Who we are
Calling to Clarity is a business of Tara Nixon, operated by Cabinet 13, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company. "We" and "us" on this page mean Cabinet 13, LLC. You can reach us at tara@taranixon.com or PO Box 154, Lugoff, SC 29078.
Values and inclusion
Last updated October 15, 2026
Calling to Clarity is built on connection, learning, and compassion. I started it to help people whose work comes from somewhere deep build a business that can hold that work, and that includes people the business world has made unwelcome.
Calling to Clarity is based in Lugoff, South Carolina, on the Wateree River. I respectfully acknowledge that this is the ancestral land of the Wateree and Catawba peoples, and before them of the people of Cofitachiqui, whose capital stood nearby. The Catawba Indian Nation has lived on its ancestral lands in this region for at least 6,000 years and is the only federally recognized tribe in South Carolina today. I'm grateful to live and work here, and committed to keep learning its history.
This business welcomes and affirms
- Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people
- LGBTQIA+ people
- Black, Indigenous, and people of color
- Disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent founders
- People of every faith, every spiritual practice, and none
- Anyone building a business around barriers they didn't create
What I stand for, fully and without exception
- Trans rights
- LGBTQIA+ equality
- Reproductive freedom
- Racial justice
- Disability rights
- Indigenous sovereignty
Hate, harassment, and bigotry have no place in my client work, my community spaces, or my inbox, and I won't build systems for a business that promotes them.
What that looks like in practice
- Access to the work. Grants and sliding-scale adjustments are available for Calling to Clarity, so cost doesn't have to be the reason someone can't reach out.
- Honest marketing. My prices are published. When I say there are five founding seats, there are five.
- Room to be a person. If something I've made doesn't work for how your body or brain works, tell me and I'll find another way.
I won't always get this right. If I miss something, write to me at tara@taranixon.com and I'll take it seriously.
— Tara Nixon, founder
Privacy policy
The short version
To register for a training you give us your name and email address, and we use them to send you the Google Meet link and our emails. Trainings run on Google Meet and are recorded. We don't sell your information. You can unsubscribe any time, and you can ask us to delete what we have. The rest of this policy says the same thing with the detail regulators expect.
What we collect
What's in a recording. We record each live training. If you turn on your camera, speak, or write in the chat, your name, image, voice, or words may appear in the recording. If you'd rather not appear, keep your camera and microphone off. Google Meet also sees whatever you share while you're in the session.
What you give us when you register. Your name and email address, collected by our email platform when you register for a training.
What you send through the inquiry form. Your name, your email address, and your note, collected by our web host when you write to us from the Calling to Clarity page. Sending a note doesn't add you to our email list.
What's collected automatically. Our email platform records whether you opened an email and which links you clicked. Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. Our sign-up and thank-you pages count visits with GoatCounter. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and doesn't keep your IP address. It records totals only, the page, where the visit came from, and the browser, system, screen width, and country, with the state for visitors in the US, and it stores them in Finland and Germany. Links to government sites and other resources take you to those sites, and their own policies apply there.
What we don't collect. We don't ask for your date of birth, government ID numbers, precise location, biometric information, or health information. We don't buy data about you from other companies.
Why we use it
| What we do with it | Why we're allowed to |
|---|---|
| Send you the Meet link and our emails | You asked us to, and you can withdraw that at any time |
| Answer you when you write to us | You asked us to |
| Keep the site working and prevent abuse | Our legitimate interest in running the site |
| Keep records for tax, accounting, and legal purposes | Legal obligation |
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make this work, and only what they need.
- Email platform. Kit, which stores subscriber information and sends our email.
- Web host. Netlify, which serves this site, keeps its server logs, and receives inquiry form notes.
- Video meetings. Google Meet, part of Google Workspace, which runs each live session and stores its recording in our Google Drive.
- Visit counter. GoatCounter, which counts visits to our sign-up and thank-you pages as totals, with no cookies and no IP addresses kept.
We also disclose information when the law requires it, when we need to protect someone's safety or our legal rights, and if the business is ever sold or merged, in which case your information transfers with it and this policy keeps applying until we tell you otherwise.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of both.
How long we keep it
- Subscribers. Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you, plus up to 12 months in a suppression list so we can keep honoring your unsubscribe.
- Emails and inquiry notes you send us. 24 months.
- Server logs. As long as our web host keeps them under its own policy.
- Recordings. In our Google Drive for as long as we use them.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can do any of these by writing to tara@taranixon.com.
- Unsubscribe from any email, using the link at the bottom of every message.
- Ask what we have about you and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information.
We won't treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm who you are first, usually by asking you to reply from the email address on file. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need longer. If we say no, you can appeal by replying and asking us to reconsider. We'll answer the appeal within 45 days and tell you how to reach your state attorney general if you're still unsatisfied.
California. You also have the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, why, and the categories of companies we disclose it to, all described above. We don't collect sensitive personal information. You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom. We're a United States business with no establishment in the EU or UK, and we don't direct our services to people there. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies anyway, you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what we did before, and the right to complain to your national supervisory authority, or to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk in the UK. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Canada. We send commercial email only with your express consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link. We act on unsubscribes within 10 business days.
Children
Our trainings and emails are meant for adults running businesses. They aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we'll delete it. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child gave us information, write to us and we'll remove it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards and rely on established platforms with their own security programs. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure. If a breach affects information we hold and the law requires notice, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities.
Changes
We'll update this policy when our practices change and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell subscribers by email.
Terms of use
The short version
Use what you learn in your own business. Please don't record, republish, or resell the sessions or their materials. Nothing here is professional advice. If something here causes you a problem, our liability is limited.
1. Agreement
These terms are between you and Cabinet 13, LLC. They cover our free live trainings, their recordings and materials, this site, and the emails that come with them, which we call the "services." Using the services means you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them. We may update these terms, and the effective date at the top will change when we do.
2. What you can do with the trainings
You're welcome to attend, take notes, and use what you learn in your own business. Please don't record the sessions yourself, republish the recordings or materials, sell them, or present them as yours.
3. Educational purpose only
Our trainings are educational. They aren't legal, tax, accounting, insurance, financial, or other professional advice, and attending doesn't create an attorney-client or any other professional relationship between you and us. Trainings co-hosted with The Plain Meaning, Tara Nixon's legal education brand, are legal education only and never legal advice. Your situation has facts we don't know. Before you act on anything in a matter with real consequences, talk to your own attorney or another qualified professional.
It isn't a substitute for urgent help of any kind. If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, to reach the 988 Lifeline. In an emergency, call 911.
4. Recordings
We record each live training and may share the recording with registrants or use it in our own materials. If you'd rather not appear, keep your camera and microphone off and skip the chat. Joining with your camera or microphone on means you agree to appear.
5. Links to other sites
Our trainings and emails may link to other sites. We don't control those sites, and their own terms and policies apply when you visit them.
6. As is
The services and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, or current.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business, arising from or relating to the services, even if we've been told such damages are possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to the services won't exceed $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't lawfully be limited. Some places don't allow some of these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and where that's so, our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
8. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina. If you're a consumer whose local law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live, this doesn't take that away. Before filing anything, please write to us describing the problem, and we'll try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days.
9. Everything else
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing something isn't a waiver of it. These terms and the privacy policy above are the whole agreement between us about the services.
How we make money
Our trainings are free. Calling to Clarity is a consulting business, and our trainings and emails may tell you about its paid work.
Some of our emails may include affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When an email contains an affiliate link, we say so in that email, before the link. We only recommend things we'd stand behind, and a commission never buys a recommendation.
Copyright

If you think something here infringes your copyright, write to us with the work you believe is infringed, where it appears here, your contact information, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner, and your signature. We'll respond promptly.
Accessibility
We want our trainings to work for everyone. Google Meet offers live captions, and you can turn them on from the controls at the bottom of the call. We haven't completed a formal accessibility audit, so this describes an ongoing effort rather than a finished result.
If something doesn't work for you, write to us with the training and what happened. We'll respond within 5 business days, and if you need the material in another format, we'll make one.
